If you are responsible for the utilities – deemed rates will apply when you become responsible for a property, where there is no fixed term energy plan in place.  When this happens, you may automatically be placed on the higher deemed rates even if you haven’t moved in yet! These rates are typically far more expensive than contracted rates.
